Dick Francis– Risk
I've been looking for this book for a while around the second-hand book shops and could never find it. I eventually bought it new and discovered why it was hard to track down.
Risk is definitely one of my favourite Dick Francis novels. If I were to pick one reason why this novel stands out it would be the strength of the supporting characters. A lot of this book is exposition, from necessity, but the other characters when they appear are excellent. Even the bit parts receive uncommon treatment.
