Stephen Hunter Point of Impact

This book has recently been made into a movie called Shooter starring Mark Whalberg and I am looking forward to seeing the adaptation of this excellent novel.
Point of Impact centres around Bob (not Robert!) Lee Swagger an ex-marine sniper who unwittingly gets involved with some insavoury charcaters that work for a clandestine government department.
This involvement leads to a tale of recrimination and revenge and draws in an interesting array of supporting characters including a self-sacrificing FBI agent, a disgraced psychiatrist and a Vietnam war widow.
All the characters are compelling and well written and the story proceeds at a good pace.
I recommend this book.
