J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

No review follows. If you've not read the book spend your energy reading it instead.
Things I discovered which have resonances for later books and may foreshadow later revelations:
- Prefessor McGonagall is particularly upset about Hermione's petrification. I thought this last time I read the book but I'll repeat it here. Professor McGonagall is related to Hermione in some way. A great aunt perhaps or grandmother. Also, McGonagall is the transfiguration master and Hermione shows particular aptitude for this subject.
- Harry's mother is a "Mud-blood" as was Tom Riddle a.k.a. Voldemort's Father. Is this where the relationship lies between Harry and Voldemort? Was Harry's Mum Voldemort's father's sister or related in some way? Re-reading The Half-blood Price which discusses Tom Riddle's childhood in some detail may shed more light on this. This also reflects on Aunt Petunia's and by proxy Uncle Vernon's attitude towards him.
- Tom Riddle was interested in Ginny talking about Harry and his battle with Voldemort but Riddle cannot know why he should die when he can't know his own future mind. His hatred for Harry comes from some connection Riddle makes via Ginny which goes further towards the mystery of why Voldemort wanted him dead.
