The Killers- Sam's Town

Sam's Town

The Killers second album has become a bit of a lightening rod for music critics. After originally getting good reviews it became en vogue to slate it. This only serves to reinforce my opinion that when buying music either don't trust the critics or trust only a critic or two that seem to share your tastes.

I like this album. I couldn't say I like it more than "Hot Fuss", The Killers first album, but I don't like it less either.

To use a piece of music critic-ese, Sams's Town is not as "accessible" as Hot Fuss which is just a fancy way to say that it is not as full of instantly enjoyable tunes. This is by no means a bad thing though as just like wine, cheese and Napoleon Dynamite the album is an acquired taste, the more you listen to it the more you get out of it.

In short I give this album 2 cherries and an apricot. Buy it, you won't be disappointed
